The Basque Market’s Croqueta Cooking Class!

Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 6 pm

Ingredient pick up: Tuesday February 23rd and Wednesday February 24th, Noon to 5 pm.

Join us to learn how to make croquetas: delicious bites of love!  Creamy Bechamel studded with your choice of flavor…from the popular local favorite—chicken— to the traditional Jamon Serrano OR…. one of our new flavors like chorizo or mushroom!

The sky is the limit with this great class!


Class Fees

  • $40 per device (I.e. one computer sign-in)


Pick up your ingredients ahead of time at The Basque Market. Includes instruction, recipe and main ingredients to make:

– One yummy batch of piquillo pepper and cheese croquetas

– Prepared chorizo masa

–  Four take-n-bake croquetas

– Four ready-to-fry croquetas


You will need to have on hand:

  • 2 ½ cups milk – preferably whole or 2%
  • 1-2 eggs
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 10” saute pan
  • Small sauce pan – to hold 2 cups
  • Wood spoon
  • Plastic wrap
  • Small sheet pan/baking sheet
  • 4 cup shallow glass or plastic container
  • Electric, gas or induction burner or cooktop
  • 425-degree oven


You will also need a way to fry your croquetas!

Option 1: Small 8-10” saute pan and enough canola or other vegetable oil to fill 1”

Option 2: Deep fryer with appropriate amount of canola

or vegetable oil for your appliance

Option 3: Air fryer (if you use an air fryer, the 425-degree oven is optional)


Additional Wine Pairing — $15

Four Basque or Spanish wines – you provide the glass, and we will share tasting notes and a bit about the wines.

Half-a-dozen Fun

Six Basque or Spanish Wines expertly pairs with six fun croqueta flavors. Choose from take & Bake or ready to fry croquetas.

Learn a bit about Spain’s king of grapes, the Tempranillo and how terroir and aging transform one grape into such a diverse and dynamic wines.

Featured wines include: Tempranillo Blalnco, Rose, Joven, Crianza and Reserva!

Class Fees

The Basque Market’s Paella Cooking Class

The “e-Version!”

Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 6 pm

Ingredient pick-up March 10 and 11, Noon-5pm

Learn how to make the national dish of Spain! This cooking class will be just as fun as an in-person class.

In fact, some of you may even prefer this new way of virtual learning!

Not only will we teach you traditional techniques for making delicious chicken, chorizo, and seafood paella,
we will also talk about the history of this famous dish. We will also touch upon Basque history and wines.

Pick up your ingredients at The Basque Market for the class ahead of time, and then relax in the comfort of your own home!

You can cook along with us using your computer and ZOOM, or watch the class online and then try it later on your own!

Class Fees

Class fees include all ingredients to prepare a small (2-3 serving) paella (chicken, chorizo, and seafood)


  • Additional cost for a 10” Paellera (Paella pan)  – $20

Extra add-ons:

– Piquillo pepper cheese spread and olive tapenade with baguette $8
